Skipton railway station receives direct trains from London Kings Cross and connecting trains from Lancaster & Glasgow via Carlisle and there is a regular 2 trains per hour service from the major West Yorkshire Cities of Leeds and Bradford.
Leeds city station receives daily direct rains from Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Newcastle in the North and Plymouth, Bristol, Southampton, Brighton, Reading, Birmingham and Cambridge in the South. Leeds also receives a hourly service from London Kings Cross between 0700 and 2100 hours (2 hours approx journey time)

The Road to the Yorkshire Dales & Pennines
If you are coming from the North of England or Scotland. The best two routes are either South from Edinburgh or Newcastle on the A1 and a scenic cross country journey on the A59 of approx 70 minutes to Skipton and Gargrave. Or South from Glasgow or Carlisle on the exelent A74 / M6 and a scenic cross country journey on the A65 of approx 45 minutes to Gargrave and Skipton
Accessing Skipton and the Yorkshire dales from the South and West is made easy nowadays with the M1, M6 and M62 feeding into the A629 and A59 Trunk Roads.
